my 2000 chevy malibu has not ran right since i bought it. for a couple of months it would only start and run fine if it had more than 3/4 of a tank of gas. once it got down to the 3/4 mark it would just shut off going down the road and not restart. once i put a little more gas in it, it would start and run fine. i know the thing has gas because it will only hold a few gallons before it spills out. just recently though it is starting to just shut off even if it has a full tank. i coast to a stop, put it in neutral, and it will start right back up and go. it does this 3 or 4 times before finally just not restarting and i get towed home. a little while later the thing will start up again fine(as long as it has more than 3/4" of a tank). IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! any help would be very appreciated  . i've seen from research that this year/model has fuel problems but my situation is different than any of the others i looked at. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like we have a fuel pump issue. The not running below 3/4 of a tank could be a strainer plugged up & when the module can't get fuel inside of it, it dies. Now that it is dieing more frequently, I would say we have a fuel pump motor overheating & failing. It could be checked with a fuel pressure gauge when not starting to see if it is low.
