Road and Track magazine has leaked a photo and video of the 2008/2009 Chevrolet Camaro Concept on its website. The car is due this week at the Detroit auto show. They’ve pulled their article on the car, which is believed to have been published prematurely. The official announcement is expected Sunday or Monday. We’ll keep you posted as this story develops. :woot: :woot:
What do you guys think of the design? Looks similar to the one posted before.
For once this is a concept that I don't think is hideous.

If a LS2 is available and abides by a few other stipulations of mine, I'll eventually get one. I lke it a lot.

It's instantly recognizable as a Camaro, and has lots of classic Camaro styling themes without being overtly "retro". I like that GM has sought their own direction instead of just following, this time.

On the money!
I see some things I feel are stolen from Dodge and from Ford, but I think this is the best "retro-redeux" yet.
Of course, I might be a little biased since it is wearing a bow-tie.
Put a 502 in that thing please! It just screams "Big block!"

It looks a lot like a Cadillac XLR (only a heck of a lot less $'s) only the one pictured has a hard top

I don't like it.
I mean, it's cool compared to most of the newer vehicles on the road, but I just don't like the looks of it.

If the rear lights were divided into 3, the top grill expanded vetically a tad, and remove the bottom grille, and move them closer, it'd look perfect.

Looks like a Monte Carlo. Seriously. It looks just like a 1986 Monte Carlo SS.
I'm really not a fan right now.

The roof is too low, and too flat, but I think the rest of it is pretty decent. And I don't see how anyone can see "Monte Carlo" in that. Montes were always upright and formal looking.

These two cars do look half similar but, I think that the Camaro looks newer and easier to live with.

Just heard rumors that the new Camaro might get the new Z06 engine :D

That's a long shot. The LS2 is confirmed. And looking at the placement, it'll be ready for some roots action. The LS7 would just be the icing on the cake.

The Camero will not get the Z's motor due to pricing issues. Then again, GM is making the "Blue Devil" Corvette for 2008

I think the Blue Devil will be the Corvette SS that should feature the LS9...a charged 6.x liter motor, I believe. The Nurburgring pics were THE Z06...which just means it's that much more ****ing awesome.

Looks like the Camaro will make it overseas as well:
On the eve of GM's debut of the Camaro convertible, What Car? is reporting that both the iconic coupe and drop top variant will find their way to our friends in the UK.
According to the magazine's sources, both Camaros will be offered in right-hand drive and will recieve the LS2 6-liter 400HP V8, producing around 400 BHP. Sales will begin about the same time as us Yanks get our paws on the GM pony car, sometime in 2009, and will carry a price tag of around £30,000.
