Hi, I'm new here and really appreciate all the great info on this site!

My '97 Plymouth Breeze has been pulling a little to the right for a while now, but isn't too noticeable. However, recently it has started making some noises that sound almost like something is rubbing. I thought it could be ice buildup behind the front wheels, but now it is above freezing outside...so, no ice. The noises go away when I turn left.

I know that I'll end up bringing it in this week, but the problem is that I need to drive a couple hours tonight or tomorrow morning. If I knew what the problem is and how serious it is, I would plan my driving schedule accordingly.

Thanks for any info!

Matt

Sounds like a problem with your power steering, although the problem with it pulling to the right is most likely alignment related. I would check the fluid level first, as for driving it for a few hours tonight I am not sure how to advise you. Honestly it could be something small or it could be a problem that you shouldn't drive it. Good luck and let us know what you find

I topped off the power steering fluid yesterday, and it really didn't take much at all. I've also noticed that my car is a lot harder to steer compared to my roommate's newer ford taurus. It could be that his car is 5 years newer, but I would assume you're correct to say I have power steering problem.

Your best bet is to take it in as soon as possible.... I wouldn't say driving far is a good idea, but if you know the car. If you feel comfortable doing so then that is up to you :) Keep us posted on what happens with it.

i know it's late, but could it be a torn CV boot?

A torn CV boot won't cause a noise but it can cause the CV joint to loose all of its grease & then the joint go bad.
It sounds like you might have a wheel bearing going out if it makes a noise turning to the right & goes away when turning to the left. I would get it looked at as soon as possible. If it is a wheel bearing, that could be dangerous if it goes out driving.

differant cars have differant ratios for power stearing controlers. Your friends tarus could put out 5:1 searing power while your car does 3:1. Every car is differant

I took it in this morning, and they haven't gotten back to me yet. However, the guy in charge thought it might be a wheel bearing when I described the situation. Hopefully, I get a call in the morning.

That makes sense, but my car is unusually difficult to steer in places like a parking lot or driveway (turning from a stopping position). I think there is an actual problem accounting for such drastic differences.

I'll keep you guys posted, and thanks for all the good info.

The first thing that i would check would be your inner and outer tie rod end and your ball joints. if all ok check the wheel bearings. make sure that you get an alignment when all finished!! ;)

I just got the call, and it is the bearing and tie rods. $600 for parts and labor :(
