im in the process of looking for a "new" used car, i currently have a jeep and the things a pain on gas (im a student) so im looking to part ex it on something small, good on gas, reliable and has some pep/life to it. im a 21 yr old female.
unfortunatly im broke so im looking for something under $3000 used, however not too interested in any of the fancy features some cars have.

ive heard good things about the neons, and love the shape and from what im told an older neon would be within my price range, however the jeep was my first ever car, and have had no experience with any other cars.

so what do you think, what car would you suggest for me?!
im just looking for a little run around to get me to and from school (most of my milage is highway) doesnt have to be anything fancy,
i like something with some deacent power, my jeep was large but very light for its horse so had alot of zoom to her, i just cant afford to run her back and forth now that gas is so expensive (costing me over $70 a week)

im interested in ANY make and model of car, and any year, but neons were the first that came to my attention so im starting here, if you can all point me in the right direction.
remember, im car clueless (i know more about harleys than i do about cars)

as i said my only real requirments would be a reliable, small, cheap to run motor, preferably automatic (i know i know, i just prefer automatics though (and yes i can drive stick i do drive stick on occasion but just prefer automatic) some kind of soundsystem would be nice (so long as theres a tuner and speakers i can hook up my own cd changer no worries.)
and AC and Heat woudl be good too lol.

thanks in advance!

Thats what I was thinking too. If you take that route though just make sure some wanna be ricer didn't have it first because that always means engine trouble. Any Honda would be safe I'd say. The CRV...Civic...anything like that.

If you're not looking to modify the vehicle and just want something reliable, you might want to look into Saturn as well. They are inexpensive and in my experience pretty reliable vehicles.

I would say toyota camry, they are prob the most reliable out both saturns and civics although civic comes close

If you were closer my sister just went from a sunfire to a cobalt for her little car. I just put a radiator head gasket and waterpump in the sunfire. It's a good little car it gets great mileage and it's cheap. If I din need a truck for work I wouldn't sell it my truck gets 14 mpg around town when my foot isn't in it which.. is rare.. and her little sunfire got like 22 around town or more. I think near 30 on the highway. I am big on GM cars and I know them inside and out. For reliablity and cost if I were you I would look into a sunfire or cavaler or saturn sc1 something small with the 2.2 it's super reliable and super cheap to fix. Worst case that ive ever seen in a cavaler I had to rebuild the suspension and do a headgasket and even with the cost of the car I was in under 2k and the thing ran for 4 years for the guy down the street and he beats the cars into the ground. So There is potential inthe small GM cars but as far as cost.. anywhere from 1k to 3500 for something decent in the late 90's models. I know I am trying to get 2400 out of my sister's car right now but with the weather being what it is I might sit on it till springtime.

Good luck!

again thanks, i like the sunfires, and the saturn sc1 and the sc2, its just a matter of finding them...i swear, round here if your not buying new or a reacent ex lease they dont have it, and dont want to know...the saturn dealership neer us carries nothing older than a 02...i know its not unusualy but considerin theres mabe 1 used car dealership...theyd make a killing if they kept a coupe of older vehicles in...
