So who has seen pictures of this thing / the concept (Blue Devil)

With the latest supercar horsepower tango pouring out of Europe, GM can't stand to see the already potent 500hp Corvette Z06 gazed down upon as a second rate supercar. Instead GM is developing an alleged supercharged 600hp Z06 with carbon fiber components dubbed the "Blue Devil" as reported by Autoweek in a recent interview with General Motors vice chairman Bob Lutz. With a curb weight hovering around 2900 lbs. and a price tag starting at $100,000 the European competition should be breaking into a cold sweat as the Blue Devil seen here making laps around Germany's Nurbürgring passes by.

Update as of the 23rd of this month:
The folks over at DigitalCorvettes.com have posted some documents that, if believed, show that a supercharged LS9 6.2L V8 is set to debut in a Corvette in time for the 2009 model year. This, of course, would be for some sort of ultra-high-performance model, often dubbed the "Blue Devil" and more recently thought to be the Corvette SS. The info is heavily redacted, but a little reading in between the thick black lines would lead one to think that Eaton might be providing a supercharger/intercooler/intake module to GM for this engine (this makes a lot of sense, considering that company’s currently established relationship with GM). At a claimed “600 HP and 560 ft-lbs”, it should be quite the monster - even before the easy modifications are performed.

Also interesting is the LS8 that's shown on the timeline, which is a “480-500 HP” V8 that’s shown replacing the LS7 for the 2011 model year. This represents a drop in power from the current Z06's engine, but the fact that it’s to be offered with an auto and manual (as well as the fact that it won’t be built at the Performance Center) suggests that it will become the new base powerplant for the Vette. With a 500 HP Mustang soon to hit the streets, such a boost in power is likely necessary to maintain the Corvette's reputation as the best bang for the buck in the $40-50K price range.

They need to put that thing into product, you want to talk about a vehicle that will be untouchable. The Z06 is already that way, a blown Z06 with 600HP will rival the V10 & V12 world.

A 600HP SC vette from the factory thats crazy. Then simple modds and you are near 750HP and you are basicly untouchable if it does weigh only 2900pounds. Probably a topspeed of over 205mph.

Watch out ford GT The corvette is a mile ahead and it is 50K less. Chevy Should give it a V-12 it would nock the Lambo's and Ferrari's off of it's throne. :woot:

"Chevy officials at the Chicago Auto Show didn't confirm any new details on the much-rumored "Blue Devil" Corvette, but they didn't downplay it" - AutoWeek

I've seen rumors that it will simply be named the Chevrolet SS. Even thouh there is an ancient concept called the SS already.
