Well, my wife called em telling that the ru was hard to start today. we have had negative temps these past two days. But, she said it had an odd noise and a funn smell. I had her drive it home, checked it out. Oh shit-I smell fuel. Nothing dripping. Pop the hood, smells like fuel-bad. Poke around with the flashlight...uh-oh, I see a puddle of something. Uh-oh smoking where the puddle is. turn off car now!

Well, with the layout fo the motor, I can't see shit. So I'm thinking it has to do with an injector hose and the fuel rail is or the injector itself. Funny, I could have had my face flamed off.

i thought it would have caught fire before smoking like it started to but no. this sucks.

You know I have found in the past some of the cars that don't use acutal fuel rails and have the hoses that go to the injectors tend to find leaks real fast. I don't know what you have but its worth a check

fuel hoses are known to break during the cold weather..the chances of the fuel hose exploded are far more likely than the fuel rail, but it that could still possibly be the problem

I'm sure it wasn't the fuel rail (if it actually exists-as Revolution is proposing)-just the hose going to the injector. it's just a huge mess on top of the motor and I don't like pulling crap out without a manual or a whole weekend. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Im going to dig a little deeper today and then have it towed to a shop because I don't do a lot of the work on this car, so I'm not sure about a rail. I can see the possibility one on each pair of cylinders. :dunno:

Thanks guys.

Well the fuel hose at the injector is busted. This is apparently a common problem on the WRX.
