I bought a 2003 Pontiac Vibe for my wife with the fuel door latch by the drivers seat. When she recently went to refuel, the door would not open.
Does anyone know of a way to open this door, short of taking it to a mechanic?
Thanks

not sure about the vibe, though i will look at my girlfriend's new vibe tomorrow.
on the lincoln town cars i drive as a chauffer, there's a v-shaped piece of metal on the door. there's another piece inside the doorway that compresses one side of the v which, when you pull the release, should move away and allow the door to pop open.
sometimes the release inside the door wouldn't work. on the town cars, there's also a cable inside the trunk, which you can pull to release the door.
i don't think there's anything like that inside the vibe, but it wouldn't hurt to look.
otherwise, you could try using a library card or something to wedge the latch open, the same way you can open a door inside your house. after that, i'd say take it back to a dealer and ask them to see if they can get it open for you.
