Okay, you know the "red line" section of the tachometer? Like for example, the red line on my brother's 01 Jetta 1.8T is around 6.5 RPM.

The thing is... my other car, 05 Ford Focus, has no tachometer, and it's stick. I've been driving it no problem without the tach, but I got one for it; figured it could come in handy one day, me being deaf and all.

Don't worry, I am by no means a ****ing ricer, I didn't get the giant ass ones you nail on the dashboard. I'm going to integrate it in the dashboard, it's a small tach too, 52mm.

Anyways... now the problem is, how do I figure out the "red line" for it? It's not a Focus-specific tach, it seems like a universial one. It's made by Timex, I believe. A friend had gotten it but didn't want it so he gave it to me, so if I can't use this tach, it's no big loss.

Thanks for your time! :)

Here is a bit of information on your engine:

Horsepower (SAE net @ rpm) 136 @ 6000
Torque (lb.-ft. @ rpm) 136@4250

This is assuming it is just a regular Ford Focus and not the SVT.

The only information I could find on the tachometer was this:

"A 7000-rpm tachometer flanks a 140-mph speedometer"

What does your speedometer go up to?

Yeah, it is a regular Focus, not the SVT. The speedometer does go up to 140mph... and if it's any help, it's a Focus SE ZX3, forgot to mention that.

I just searched and it looks like the info posted above pertains to your vehicle :)

Awesome... thanks so much.... would you guess that the redline is around 6rpm? Haha, I don't know why I'm worried about this, it's not like I'm gonna race that car... but could be useful for highways and stuff.
