I have bought a 2000 4-cyl Tiburon. It was a little boosted already before I got it. The previous owner took out the air filter and replaced it with a cool air intake(Matrix brand filter). I'm not sure about the exsaust, but I know that it is some sort of direct line from the engine. I have a few questions though. Does anyone have an idea how much torque and hp this car should be pulling. I know stock the specs say 140hp for the 4-cyl 2.0 engine, but with these mods, I have no idea. Also, I have been told that without the stock airfilter/box, the check engine light is on. Is that possible that the sensors are messed up due to the special intake???

well the cell from the mass air flow sensor, could be not sending the cell (if its a real cold air or short ram)... the cell isnt being sent, so the engine says check engine light.... also, the engine may have a problem, so i would take it to your local hyundai dealer and check the engine... GOOD LUCK

Yeah, the intake is a short line connected straight to the filter, no manufacturer box. As far as I can tell, the engine doesn't have any problems. The specs I have seen for my engine are the same as the 06 specs for the 2.0 liter engine, but I was curious as to how much boost would this intake possibly give with the exsaust as explained above. I don't know what kind of either thing they are though, so I know it would be hard to guess. Also, thanks for the welcome to the forums.

with an intake and exhaust your looking at a max of 7-10hp.

and that's pushing it, I honestly wouldn't see you gaining too much on a small displacement naturally aspirated car

basically next to nothing in horsepower gains.

That's what I thought. I wasn't too sure.

When I get some money, I want to put one of the new V-6 engines that Hyundai has now, that they are putting into the sonata with about 240hp, then put a turbo on it.
